USB/PC laptop HotSync Problems

So I finally decided to perform a hard reset on my 700p & re-install apps only to the point where the system stays stable. I've been using my Treo with a PC & a Mac for about two months now.

After performing the hard reset, uninstalling Palm Desktop, deleting all old profile information, & re-installing Palm Desktop, I now can't perform a USB HotSync with my PC laptop. When I plug in the USB cable, I get repeating beeps indicating a USB device being plugged in & being unplugged (all while the cable remains plugged in). I finally get a message on the Treo stating "The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again."

I can still HotSync with the same cable with my Mac. I've tried both USB ports on my laptop, & both ports work successfully with other devices.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm sure you've checked to make sure you're hotsync setting's on Local USB?

Did you have any problems doing hotsync prior to the hard reset/reinstall?
Are you using WinXP?
