Default Verichat seems to always disconnect when phone in standby....

i thought this program was advertised to always be on....i can be chatting away, and then if i stop using it for a few minutes, the screen goes black, and then when i try to resume, the program says i am disconnected. how do i get verichat to always stay connected?

Look under preferences in Verichat, and make sure you have set it up to enable always on.
I have used Verichat for over a year, and am happy with it. I do occasionally have days where I get booted off apparently randomly, but for the most part, it is "always on."

i do have it enabled as on...well i received a response from verichat customer support, and they mentioned that the 700p is so far not supported, so that may be causing some of the problems. two questions...

1. i only had the option to select SMS instead of data....which do you have? the SMS option sends messages to my phone as text messages when the screen goes black (phone in standby)....but im interested in seeing how the data option works.

2. on msn and yahoo, i cannot seem to log onto my phone and computer at the same time. they kick each other off....is this normal? there was a setting for AIM that lets you log onto both at same time...you cant do this with MSN and yahoo?

I am using the 650, so that may an issue.

I use data for my always-on, and I get notified with the sound and or vibration I choose in the "sounds and alerts" menu.

I use multiple accounts for AIM, but only one each for MSN and Yahoo, so I'm sorry, but I can't help you there.

Did support give you an idea of if/when they are going to offically support the 700p? I am considering upgrading before long, but Verichat might be a deal-breaker for me. I live on it!

this was their response---

At this point in time the Treo 700p is not an officially supported platform. Because of this, running the Treo 600/650 software causes the "Always ON" feature to break. This issue has been reported to Product Management for consideration in a future release.We do not have an ETA for this.I will make sure that you will be notified when this device will be supported.

I am setting your incident to Require Notification. This will notify you that the incident is solved. Please ignore the solved status. When a fix for your issue is available, I will contact you. Thank you for your patience.


but i have another question for you---
so when you are in data mode, and your screen shuts off being in standby mode, and you get a message, it beeps and comes to you, and you continue chatting in the original screen?

see with mine, i get a text message with the message, and i have to manually got back to verichat and it will connect back on, and i can then continue, but this is a bit annoying.

I am also having this same issue. Although, I don't even have the option to change to data. When I try to 'de-select' the SMS option, it doesn't let me uncheck it. Is there no other instant messenger client that will remain running in the background?
