Default Verison update - I LOST MY CALENDAR!

I foolishly did the Verizon update- they emailed me a few times about it, strongly suggesting the update. Prior to updating, I performed a hot sync as told and when it was over - about 10 minutes - I performed another to restore my data. BUT I lost any new contacts I had put on the phone, but worse - a very important memo and all of my calendar! I have no appointments, no nothing! Any suggestions? ARGH.

that means it is likely that your data is saved on the computer.

sounds like you didn't actually restore anything. which means it's probably still on your computer waiting to be rescued.

importantly DON'T do any more synchs

if you are running palmdesktop or outlook- what do you see when you launch that? if the data is there

check the conduit settings and set to desktop overwrites handheld (one time only) and se what happens.

if pd doesn't show it may still be backed up further down the pile.

can you update us? (not at home pc so can't go thru' file structure)

By chance, do you also use a device based backup solution? If you do, you can restore from there.

When I updated my ROM (Sprint), I backed up to the card, copied the card to my laptop, reformatted the card, installed the update on the card, updated the device, executed a hard reset, reformatted the card and copied the files that were previously on the card back to the card and then restored from the last backup on the card - meaning --- not having to rely upon the hot sync application.

So, if you do a device base backup, then you can also restore your PIM files from it. Otherwise, look in the Palm backup folder on your computer, checking the PIM folders there and restore those files via hot sync - as indicated above, make sure you use the correct hot sync settings.

I keep my settings set to do nothing, which means if I want to update something, I have to temporarily change the setting for a specific task - this keeps things from happening that are unwanted.

In this situation, the setting would be desktop overwrites device IF you are restoring from the desktop.
