This is a discussion on Verizon Treo 700p within the Treo Smartphones forums; Gadgets on the Go has photos (yes, once again, more blurry photography) of a Treo 700p that is branded Verizon. ...

My Prayers have been answered! I just hope its legit and it will be out within the next two months.
If this is legit, I'm sure a lot of folks will be happy. As someone who planned on upgrading, this is good for me too. I'm with Verizon right now, so I won't have to bail to Sprint.
With Hollywood running Windows and photos of a Verizon Treo 700p, this sure has been a week filled with surprises.

Insert foot in mouth. Possibly. :rolleyes:
BTW, the Gadgets On The Go story was taken from this TreoCentral thread. The poster claims to be a Verizon employee who was "just handed" one. In addition to the photos Chris posted, there are a bunch more from every possible angle. While all a bit fuzzy, they seem legit. Two quibbles: 1. he said that he took the photos with the 700p, but my "lowly" 650 camera focuses far better than that, and closer in; 2. how'd he take a picture of a 700p with that same camera? Did he get two? If so, why didn't he say so?
Two words: cautious optimism!

TC seems to be a weekly source for these things. The group over there is having a good time with the "cycle". Photos appear at TC and the subsequent blog frenzy that ensues.
Who knows if they are real. I agree with a poster who said, "Rule for next week, no new Treo XXXp photos without a real digital camera.".

Forgive my Ignorance, but how does the 700p compare with the 650 and 700w? what new stuff does it supposedly have? What are the specs on it? Reading here was the first I've heard of the new Treo.

When Sprint was being unreasonable, I was shopping for a new carrier (i was out of contract and just month to month with Sprint.) Verizon was my first choice and they got pricing pretty close to what I had with Sprint.
The 700w was the phone I wanted and I was pretty set on getting it until I found out it only had a 240x240 screen res. That and the fact that I had converted most of my data to Palm when my HP Jornada 568 was beyond repair left me wanting a Palm version.
Fast forward 8 months and I'm with Sprint, who gave me lots of options for free plus a 15% discount on my total bill and I am the happy owner of a 650.
I am still curious to try Verizon at some point, but it's going to be at least 2 years before that happens. For now, I wait for the 700p to see if it offers anything more than just more internal memory and EVDO for data.

I was wondering if the Treo 700p includes the voice activation or whether we'd still have to pay extra for that feature. Also, my friend has the 700w and its buttons are much easier to work with--you can message with one hand because the buttoms are easier to push. Will the 700p have "looser" buttons, too?

If you like the 700w buttons, you'll find the 700p buttons are the same (actually, they are
)

Yes, you'll have to register VoiceSignal which is bundled with the 700p.
