Default Versamail problem with Sprint 700p and yahoo mail

Newbie question here, i have Yahoo mail PLus with the $20 POP service, trying to get emails to versamail, everything is set up right, but when i try to retrieve my mail for the first time, it tries to connect and get my messages, then says

"there is not enough memory to complete this task. please delete mail messages or other items on your device and try again."

why does it say this? i have no other messages on my unit, and still have about 50MB left on the treo's ram

any ideas?

Not a Yahoo user at all, but I know that gmail users have had problems with Versamail wanting to download everything in their email account. You might want to try to following and see if this helps:

When you are in VersaMail under your Yahoo account, click the Menu button and go to Preferences, Delievery Options. Then check the box that says "get only unread mail."

I am thinking that you might have lots of mail in your Yahoo account with attachments that might actually be larger than 50 megs . .

man, still problematic....i went to incoming settings, and had it download only mail from last 1 day, NO attachments, and to use text, not HTML, and max message size of 5KB, and still get the same message....also, after it gives me this errror message, i click ok, and then for some reason, it tries to check for new messages, and if i let it go all the way, it soft resets the treo! any ideas? like i said, this is a brand new treo---3 days old

Quick suggestion: set-up a Gmail (Google Mail) account, set it up for POP3 delivery (it's free); then, email yourself at Gmail and see if you have similar problems.

I use Gmail with Versamail on a Treo 650 - works pretty well.

well it turns out the problem was that i had way too much mail in my yahoo account...i deleted it all, and now we are okay..

now i am testing chattermail and versamail....i like that chattermail seems to have real push email features, with the emails coming in right away....my versamail only seems to get mail when i click on get mail, even though it is supposed to check it every minute....any comments on what you guys prefer?

also, i cannot seem to read attachments i have from either chattermail or versamail....these are excel attachments, and i have documents to go installed too...any ideas?

With Chatter, you have to download the attachemnt, after you've got the original email. From within the email message, click on the red "more", then click the red "sync", to download the remainder of the email or the attachment. The "sync" will turn green, then become a progress marker until the entire email's downloaded.
