Default Voice Dialing

Hey peoples, I'm brand new to these forums. I've had my 700p for about 2 months now and love it. One thing I wish I had, though, is voice dialing, which is what I'm posting about.

Could any of you treo veterans recommend a good product to handle this? I don't mind paying for some kind of software to get voice dialing, but if there's something good that's free, well that's even better.

I should also mention that I just bought a bluetooth headset that claims it will handle voice dialing (plantronics 350) and I would like to be able to use that to initiate voice dialing (I mention this because one of the programs I researched stated that you could not use a bluetooth headset for voice dialing).

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to ET
from another 700p thread hers a post regarding voice dialing with bt headset The only option at this state of the game is to use a Bluetooth dongle such as the Jabra A210 - it works very well with voice dialing. However, voice dialing itself is an art. If you are in an area with wind or in an area with back ground noise, it does not work well.

Sorry to rain on your parade

the dongle is a device which plugs in to the universal connector at the bottom of the treo and it has a port that you can insert a bluetooth adapetr which will allow voice dialing via bluetooth for the 700p

This wont work with a bluetooth headset, but I use the Treo Voice Dialer software that you can get a free 30 day trial of from the Palm Website. Works great, I purchased a license for it in about 4 days after I got to play with it. It's great.

I didn't purchase the software because you can't initiate the commands with the headset, which to me makes it pretty much useless.

True, but thats not a software problem, thats a BlueTooth problem from what I understand. This would mean you're pretty much SOL unless you use a wired headseat anyway.

The software itself is great. I use it all the time.

What does not work with a Bluetooth headset? If you use a Bluetooth dongle with a Bluetooth headset then you can do Bluetooth voice dialing with a third party application. Ben

You lose some of the other Bluetooth headset functionality when you use the dongle. In my case I occasionally use the redial initiated from the headset.

I guess I'm not familiar with a "bluetooth dongle". The two bluetooth headsets that I have used have been just headsets. I did just move up to the blueant headset which is full duplex. Very nice feature, I highly recommend it.
