| voicemail icon stays on despite hard reset The old broken Verizon 700p maintenance update download sent my Treo into an endless reset loop. Verizon sent me a new phone, but in the interim I switched to a different temporary phone. I was eventually able to reinstall my software onto the new phone and reactivate the 700p. But ever since I reactivated it, the voicemail envelope icon on the main phone page has not turned off. Ever.
I subsequently installed the "new" 700p maintenance update download. The update required a hard reset of the phone -- and even after the hard reset, the envelope icon stayed on.
Verizon worked with me extensively on this one, resetting switches, turning on and off my voicemail, etc. Their engineers eventually came back to me saying that this was a "known issue" with Palm and that Palm was working on a fix.
However, I can't find any documentation anywhere that anyone else is having this problem or that Palm is working on a fix. I called Palm and they had no idea what I was talking about.
It is a major irritant not to have a functioning voicemail indicator. Can anyone help?

| Hi:
Sure sounds like Verizon is blowing smoke.....I can't say I have ever heard of that being one of the problems the updaters caused. A quick search turned up nothing.
I suppose the "Clear Voicemail Icon" that I have in my 650's Phone Preferences either didn't work or is not present on a 700?

| I recently purchased a slightly used 700p on the verizon network. It also had the icon on the phone page even though I had no new voicemails. I left myself a new voicemail and then called into voicemail and deleted that and all saved messages and the icon went away. Sounds like you probably tried that and many other things as well. Just FYI... |

| Verizonnnnn I had that same problem with the Verizon VZ6700 smart phone and they said it was a "ghost" image. They said there was no known fix and gave me the phone I really wanted - the palm 700p - which is so much better than the VZ6700. Sounds to me like it's Verizon, although I've never had a Verizon problem like that before in 10 years. |

| I have a similar "problem" with mine. On the phone "desktop" the four buttons on the bottom of the screen are Voicemail, Messages, Contacts, and Call Log. Next to the voicemail button, there is, and always has been the number "1". Even if all of my voicemails are cleared the 1 is always there. I don't really care to try to get rid of it since it doesn't bother me. |

| Hi:
What you are seeing is the graphic display of the "Quick Key" assignment. It means you press and hold the "1" key to quickly dial the voicemail system.
It is a feature, not a problem!
