If you are considering a move from cellphone to smartphone, then I would definitely consider a Treo. If you are going in with a 2 year contract, then opt for the 700p. Outside of the GUI enhancements, added applictions (Voice Memo, Pocket Tunes), you will be EvDO ready when it rolls out to your city. If you are on the fence, the perhaps you should consider a Treo 650. I would just be hesitant to lock in for 2 years on the 650, when you have the opportunity to get the 700.

EvDO on Treo smartphones only started 6 months or so ago and there are many happy Treo owners who don't use EvDO. Standard connections are more than suitable for email, IM and occasional web browsing. Plus, you'll be organized!

Good advice Chris. I too am thinking about getting a Treo without any data service because it's too expensive and I'm near a computer 95% of the time, so no real need for it. I'm hoping Edge Wireless (which is Cingular's partner where I live) will soon be coming out with a 700 (or better) Treo. I want mine for the PDA options and phone so I don't have to carry two devices.
