4gig secure digital memory card help

hi i may not be in the right place ? heres my deal, I purchased this 1gb sd card TRANSCEND new in pgk. never used nor open. I have a camcorder canon that uses these cards. In my menu settings under 640x480 I get 9999 pics to shoot. Just getting ready to explore the new card for when my new palm trio700wx arrives. Still on backorder, well being anxious and all I come to find out theres a 4gig on the market , so I bought a 4gig and have it right now and just placed it into to my camcorder and come to find out under 640x480 its the same 9999 pics I can shoot. Well how is that when this is a 4gig ? anyways the reason why I bought these cards i found out I can use them with my new trio 700wx but my goodness 1gb and 4gb gives me the same 9999 avail. pics to use at a 640x480 . Am I doing something wrong in my settings or will I get more pics to shoot when I get my palm trio 700wx.

You might have a defective card or a pirated card, or a 1GB that has been modified to emulate a 4GB card. I would put the card in a card reader and attach it to a PC. This will give you the actual size. IF it is does not read 4GB, I would return for a refund.
