Default 700w and Email attachments

Can anyone confirm whether the 700w will allow for email attachments like PDF to be opened? I am debating the purchase, and this info would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

It comes with Picsel PDF viewer on the disc. I haven't been able to use ActiveSync yet, so I haven't used it. Here's an article which details it's capabilities. To sum it up, yes you can view PDF's on the Treo 700w.

I decided to load Picsel Viewer just to see if it worked. After I installed it I had to do a soft reset or it wouldn't start up. Once I did that I had no problem opening a small three page pdf file. That said there was one "little" problem." I could only find options to fit the page to the width of the screen or fit the page to the screen. That made the text in the pdf very, very, very tiny. I doubt even with 320 x 320 resolution whether one would be able to have read anything other than large type faces. It is a shame because if it had a zoom - which I just may not know how to find - it would be vey usable.

I also tried a MS Word document and that opened up very nicely and it did include very usable zoom options.

Same goes for Excel. If you go below 75% zoom, you need a magnifying glass.

Word docs look good and so does PowerPoint. There is an option for viewing PowerPoint in landscape mode.

I just left a message for Jim Thomas (sp) at Piscel to see if perhaps there is some option that I am missing regarding there program. I'll let you know if I hear anything back from them.

I was in a meeting, and needed a PDF that was in my inbox on my laptop.

"Oh yeah, I've got real time ActiveSync with my Exchange Server, let me pull it up. I've never used the PDF viewer before, so be patient..."

Anyway, I pulled up the image, and I believe that one of the soft buttons (left maybe) is to change mode. You can change from Pan mode to Magnify mode. I was able to zoom in nicely, and the text was very clear. (I think it's like a Hide Mode/Show Mode button, and then you can change the icon to either pan or zoom.

That being said, I've had errors opening many PDFs that open fine on my desktop. I used to have another app on my other PPC that read PDFs, I'll have to put that one back on I guess. (You get what you pay for!)

Right you are. I just didn't try enough buttons. The arrow buttons of the 5-Way navigator scroll one from side to side. The middle button of the 5-Way navigator toggles the mode from Move Document to Zoom. Thanks for the clarification. The zoom and navigator work great and make this a nice way to view a pdf file. I didn't have any trouble opening the sample file I used. That may not be the case for all files though.

In zoom mode you can drag the page around with the stylus for viewing.
