Default 700wx Brightness and Sending SMS Problems

I have a serious problem with the Brightness and sending text messages on my Treo.

When my phone is on the brightness is set all the way to the highest setting, but when I put it to sleep with the end call button and then bring the screen back up the brightness is all the way down.

However yet another problem with the screen has come. Now when i press the end call button. A blank black screen shows, but the backlight is still on.

As for my latest problem which has persisted since about 11am this morning, everytime i try to send a text message an annoying error message always comes up which says, "Cannot recognize one or more recipients or the address is not valid. Would you like to send the message anyway?"

Oh and another thing, i have the backlight set to turn off after 1 minute of non-use and it does not turn off after one minute at all.

I have no idea whats happening here. I want to try a hard reset but am skeptical as to whether or not everything; contacts, pictures, files, etc., will sync back up to my 700wx.

Any suggestions? Has anyone ever done a hard reset? All help is highly appreciated.

Two issues to address.

1. Files, pics and such should be backed up to a PC or other device and reloaded to the phone using Explorer while connected to that computer via the USB sync cable.

2. You will be OK re-synching your phone's Outlook based data like contacts, tasks, mail, etc. Your Outlook data will re-populate after the hard reset during your first sync session. You will need to delete the old sync relationship with your PC and create a new one for the hard-reset phone (name it something different). If you are using wireless sync the process is somewhat similar and in my opinion simpler as you will gather all your old Outlook data back wirelessly during its first sync.

Let us know how you make out.

Thanks for letting me know. But now before i do all that, I can't even sync with my computer. Whenever I plug in my sync cable in, an error message comes up on my phone saying something like "To sync this phone install ActiveSync version 4.1 or higher on your desktop pc."

That's pretty dumb , because I've got activesync 4.5....I really don't understand what's going on. It makes me think why didn't i just got the 700p instead.
