Default 700wx setting up email (push / direct)

hi everyone. i'm new to the forums and new to smart phones. just got a 700wx and set up POP email access through gmail, but i am trying to find out what i need to set up instantaneous email or what is called push/direct. so i won't have to waste batterry cheing my email every 5 minutes or so. i was told that I have to be on an exchange server for that. is anyone using mail2web (Personal Exchange)? does anyone know if thats what i need? also will i need to set up the progam GoodLink on my phone in order to get push/direct?

sorry about the newbie questions. all of this is new to me. thanks in advance.

You can set up POP mail to check for new messages at regular intervals. When you follow the steps to set up the account the third or fourth screen has a "other options" button. When you hit it you will have the option to set a regular timed interval between retrievals. No additional software is needed.

On the phone, go to:

Active Sync --> menu, schedule

Pull down to: as items arrive for both.

Done

I'd like to know some detailed instructions on how to get mail2web to work with my gmail account. Here's my thing, I don't have ActiveSync installed on my computer nor do I have any plans to do so; never used it once with my PPC-6700. Do I need to have ActiveSync installed on my computer to be able to use the "Direct Push" option? On my 6700, I had POP3 access but it ate up my battery. I've done some searching on Google, but they look a tad bit to cumbersome. Thanks.

Hi, new to smartphone and forums, so here's a stupid question. What's the 'Direct Push'
