Default Activesync with TWO computers?

I had an HP IPAQ PDA before I got the Treo. I had some severe problems syncing to two computers. For those that have done this with their Treo... any problems? I am using Outlook 2003.

I am just trying to make sure that I have all my contacts and calendar on both my desktop and laptop. Anything that I CAN'T sync to two comuters?

Also, what is a GUEST?

A liitle insight would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you all!

you CAN do it. You will have to change the options each time tho (You can only have contacts/calendar sync to one computer at a time, so you go into options, uncheck calendar from one computer and check it on the other. ) It's a pita.

I can sync calendar & contacts to two computers with no problems, but you can not sync email to two computers.

just change the options to select the active computer to sync what you want when you sync.

Microsoft ActiveSync Help
Set up sync relationships with two PCs

To ensure that synchronization functions properly, you should synchronize each type of information using the same synchronization settings on both PCs.
  1. If your device already has a synchronization relationship with one PC, go to step 4. Otherwise, connect your device to the first PC using a cable or infrared connection. The Sync Setup wizard will start automatically.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. After you have set up a synchronization relationship and synchronization is complete, disconnect your device from the first computer.
  4. Connect your device to the second PC using a cable, cradle, infrared, or Bluetooth connection. The Sync Setup wizard will start.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Notes
  • When you synchronize your device with multiple computers, the items that you synchronize will appear on all of the computers with which they are synchronized.
  • You can synchronize e-mail information between your device and only one PC, unless you are synchronizing your device with an Outlook .pst file (personal folder) on the other PC.

The second computer has previously been synced with another device. How do I make sure the "old" information does not end up on my Treo? The old information is inaccurate and outdated, it is no longer needed.

Is the old information still in Outlook? If so, that data will sync the first time with your device...if you're talking about folders and files, I would delete the previous mobile device from your second computer.

Open Activesync on the second computer, go to FILE, DELETE MOBILE DEVICE to remove any previous devices that were synced to the computer. You should also make sure that the current device doesn't have the same name as the old one that you use to sync (Go to START, SETTINGS, SYSTEM tab, ABOUT, DEVICE ID tab to check current Device ID name.)

The old information is still in Outlook. Email address, contact list, and reminders still come up. How can I set it up to start from scratch? I've had some problems in the past with duplicate appointments and contacts. I don't want any of the "old" data (contacts, calendar, tasks, email, notes, etc.).

I've had similar issues too...

If the most current data is on your device, you will need to go into Outlook and delete all contacts, calendar, notes, etc. that you don't want BEFORE you sync for the first time. Then delete any other mobile device still in Activesync not being used. Then follow instructions above...
