    Default AOL SMTP Problems

I just got the Treo 700w and began setting up my aol email account using IMAP. I can receive emails no problem, but I can't send any. From what I've been reading, aol's smtp server must use port 587, anyone know how to change the port? I've tried smtp.aol.com:587 to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, I found an smtp manager software, unfortunately it only works on Windows Mobile 2003.

I had the same problem you seem to be having using smtp.aol.com. I ended up calling Verizon Data Support and they set me up a different type of account and I use WirelessSync to check my mail. I went through various steps on the phone with the support tech and everything works now. I ended up using smtp.vzwmail.net as the outgoing server address ON MY 700w. On my desktop PC I still have the smtp.aol.com address on outgoing (yes, the port is 587). I perused through many online forums, some fairly helpful. But I found that talking to tech support for direct assistance was most helpful for me as I am technologically challenged.

I am not a "power user". I don't feel the need for my 700w to do extraordinary things but I was very frustrated not getting simple tasks to work (including ActiveSync). But now that I have it up and running, the thing is amazing! I was close to taking it back because of my frustrations. But, I ordered a $100 Vaja case (can't cancel 24 hours after the custom order is placed) to encourage me to keep trying. I am very glad I did.
