Default back light on Tre 700 WX doing screwy things, please help!

I have a treo 700wx that is several years old now, and I have been living with this problem for most of the time I have had it and I am getting tired of it. What the phone is doing is shutting off the back light every minute on the minute even when I am actively using the touch screen, key pad or anything. To get the back light back on I have to use the keyboard shortcut to get to the control screen, then bring the backlight level back up to where I can see the screen. After that if I reset the phone it will operate normally until I turn it off, and the next time I turn it on it starts doing it all over again. I currently have the back light settings set to not turn off, and the power management to not turn the phone off from inactivity, and still the problem presists. I have done a hard reset, and the problem comes back after the phone has been turned on and off about 4 or 5 times. Does anyone know what is going on with my phone and can anyone help me?

    Default Palm

If you have tried the hard reset, I would suggest your next step is to go for the Mobile 6 update directly from Palm. Save ALL your stuff first. It wipes it as clean as it was when new. I dont know what service you have, but you can start at www.palm.com, or http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/na/...s:Treo%20700wx this is where you can start by selecting your service provider. Good Luck.
