okay, here's an update...
I called and talked to Sprints Advanced Technical Support and they said that new towers will be going online in my area on May 1st. This will switch my area to the EVDO network. The technician assured me that this would resolve the issues that me and co-workers have been experiencing with the Treo. I still disagree, I still think this is a device issue.
if it was not a device issue, I wouldn't think that switching to speaker phone and everything being okay would resolve the issue... oh well at least we're finally getting EVDO!!!! (according to the tech support guy)

the same problem happens (someone cant hear me but i can hear them fine) when i recieve call also. it might be a defect in the phone because i live in canda and other mobiles wrk fine when mine doesnt.

I was also having this problem. I turned the TTY/TTD option off and people who call me and that I call can now hear me very clearly (i am using my 700wx through verizon wireless). my co-worker said that the reason this was probab ly happening (people could not hear you) was because those that are hearing impaired speak very loudly, so it must have turned the mic volume level down.

Is it at all possible that you can be hitting the mute button on the touch pad accidently? If so - try setting the turn off touchscreen during a call.

settings -- personal -- keyguard -- turn off today.........

I had this same problem repetitively for a few weeks. When making a call, the microphone icon in the bottom right may be accidentally clicked and turn the mic off. I made sure the mic was on, then put the display on disabled during calls and I haven't had the problem again.

welcome to ET cattivo Sorry tmobile is gsm and the 700w and wx are cdma it wont work at all you need the 750 if you want gsm wm5 and treo.

well it's after the first of the month and nothing really changed. Still receive 1x signal, tower hasn't upgraded to EVDO. As for accidentally pressing mute on the screen, it's not possible for me because I have a Speck heavy duty rubber case that has a protective screen the flips down and the screen isn't even touched by the protection.
