Default can receive, can't send e-mail on pop3

Apologies if this issue has been addressed, I've searched and can't find the answer...I setup a new account (pop3) to send/receive messages. I can receive, but can't send. YES, I've checked (and unchecked) "outgoing mail requires authentication". I get an error when trying to send saying that the recipient is invalid. What is the deal? I run my own mail server, is their something I should change on the server?

what server are you using for your outgoing SMTP ? If its Verizon's, it supposedly takes 48 hours until your ID and PW are activated.

On the other hand, when I got my 700 I could not send e-mail no matter what, even with the Verizon data support team's ID and Password. It was eventually determined that I had a defective phone. I swapped out for a new one and it worked immediately.

I'm using my own mail server (mail.mydomain.com)...what am I missing? I can't even fidn where to enter in 'SMTP' server..also now my new phone (had to repalce b/c of microphone issues) won't connect to the broadband connection....

Okay, I think we are finaly getting somewhere!

I just got off the phone with Data Tech Support at Verizon. In case you need the number: 1.888.308.5005 (option 1, option2) Or, if you can receive but can't send you need to do this:

Go to Messages and click 'Menu>Tools>Options'
Select your Pop3 account
Then, click through (using next) until you get to "Server Information"
Leave your incoming to whatever your mail server is, BUT change Outgoing to:
smtp.vzwmail.net
Leave 'Domain' blank

Default Email problems

I used to use versamail on my 650 and loved it. my email address was a myname@mycompany.com, and used the pop server address of pop.verizonemail.net, and outgoing as stmp.verizonemail.net. Never had a problem.

Since I got my 700 last week, I have not been able to set up the pop3 server and stayed on the phone with verizon for over 1.5 hours trying to get it to work, without success. They eventurally told me that I had to use the wireless sync, which I don't like since, I cannot "SELECT ALL" to delete emails (no spam filter means over 200 emails a day I have to delete!!

The problem with the pop3 was it signed on to the internet, then asked for my incoming email password again, even though it was put in when I set up the account. I could never get to Verizon Business DSL, and continually got transferred to the personal (home) DSL people who were nice, but not very knowlegeable.

Have any of you gone through this and how did you resolve it?
