Can the screen be customized on treo700?

I just purchased a Treo 700 for our GM and he doesn't like it because the dialing buttons are too small. I can't find an online manual and was wondering if it can be set up too always show the dialing touch screen by default or the dialing screen with a few other options.

I actally have another one on the way for me but may not open it if this is not a solvable problem

Try the voice command feature. When active, you can just say "Dial xxx-555-xxxx."

It will read back to you what it thought you said and you just say "Yes" or "No." For me it has worked flawlessly and I've even tried tripping it up by speaking very fast, or saying things like "forty-eight hundred" instead of "four-eight-zero-zero."
