Can't do a contact search by first name on today screen

Not sure what happened but when I type in a contacts first name in the little direct dial/search line on the today screen nothing will come up. For some reason it is looking at the company name as the contacts last name and then the last name is coming up as a first name. So if I look for Jim nothing shows even though there are 10 Jim's in my contacts but type in Smith and the contact Verizon, Jim comes up.

What gives? I had this when I was using Outlook 2003 and now with my new computer and Outlook 2007 same thing.

You can control if contacts are looked up by name or company. What I do not know is if changing this on the contact screen will give you the results you want on the Today Screen, but it may be worth a shot.

Dialing by Company Name

1.

Press Start and select Contacts.

2.

Press Menu (right softkey) and select View
By > Company. Is this Company or Name; maybe change it to name and see if it works.

3.

Press Phone/Talk to go to your Today screen.

4.

Using the keyboard, begin entering the first few
letters of the company name.

5.

Select the number you want to dial.

6.

Press Phone/Talk to dial.
