Default Can't Install Outlook 2002

Greetings Everyone.....

After several months salivating and researching smartphones and enjoying lurking around this forum, I finally sprung today for the 700w.....my very first smartphone. I already have a problem though and I would appreciate some newbie guidance if anyone would be kind enough.

When d/ling Outlook Express 2002 from the Getting Started CD, I chose to "Restart Later" instead of "Restart Now" because I figured on installing the rest of the progs on the CD, which I did.

I finally restarted and MSOutlook could not be found anywhere except in the Cont.Panel's "Add/Remove" program list (at about 93.44MB). In ActiveSync setup, the instructions said I couldn't do email, calendar, etc., if I continued the setup. ActiveSync appears to be working and is present in my Programs.

I reinstalled Outlook from the CD and it finished saying the install/repair was successful, but still couldn't be found anywhere even after a restart. I tried this a few times with no change.

I tried to uninstall from the CD, and it went through what looked like an installation process, gives me same "install successful" message, but I found it apparently took off whatever was appearing on the Control Panel's Add/Remove programs list. Then I reinstalled again.

THIS time, in my Programs, it shows MS Office Tools with "New Programs" (MS Clip Organizer, MS Office Application Recovery, MS Office Imaging, MS Office Document Scanning, Save My Settings Wizard).

I went to the "Add Or Remove Features" on the Install CD and it has a red not available "X" next to MS Outlook For Windows drop box. Apparently it isn't on this CD, or it's corrupt.

MS Outlook 2002 is still nowhere to be found. How do I get Outlook on my desktop?

Anyone aware of a solution or similar problems? Do I go back to Verizon? Microsoft? Which direction do I need to go first?

I am at a loss here ....thanks for any suggestions.

Default Got It Installed...But.....

....now I have an apparent software problem with AS 4.1.

Got Outlook 2002 installed/functional by figuring out that I already had a version of Outlook 2002 in my MS Office Professional suite and the one installed from the Palm CD. I had to go to both and manually modify the drive info from where they were being run (changed to Run All From My Computer). It has made MS Outlook functional on my desktop, but now when I attempt to sync, AS goes through the process with a final error message "Active Sync encountered a problem on the desktop Support Code: 85010014"

Apparently, this error has been around since at least this summer and in a conversation with Palm today, they were "aware" of the problem, recieved some AS logs from me for review, and suggested I might recieve a call when the info/problem was resolved after they forwarded to MS. Any bets as to when that call will come ?

Anyone else with the 85010014 error with AS? I'm still scouring the web for insights.

Default

That's a very generic error, but, try searching either Google Groups for ActiveSync Outlook and the error number, or http://support.microsoft.com.

Could be many things.
