Default Certificate for the Exchange server?

I installed the update on my Treo 700W a few weeks ago and the IT department for my company has exchange with service pack 2 running, as it should be. However, I am getting an error with support code 0x80072F17, which, according to Verizon is that I need a secure certificate. This was confirmed by my IT department who is telling me that they first of all, do not know where to get it, and secondly that they won't pay for it since we technically are supposed to be a Crackberry shop. Anyone else go through this? HELP I want push email!

Default SSL Cert

Most of my clients use Exchange Outlook Web Access which can be secured with SSL and a certifiacte. Some purchase a certificate from Verisign others just create a Root level Certifiacte Authority on a Windows Server. The IIS that hosts the web site for OWA is told not to accept connections unless SSL; the site has a certificate that it requested from the Root Cert Auth, anyone computer joined to the domain will have this certificate auto given to them; for our smartphone people we just export the cert from the web site (IIS OWA) and copy through desktop to phone the certificate, double-clicking it will install the cert and all done. This may confuse but wanted you to know that your IT people should know how to do this in less time than it took for me to type it up. All you need is a copy of a cert they already have.

Default I wish it were that easy

My IT department can't keep our servers up and running, let alone figure this out. They say I don't need a certificate on the phone, just on the server side and they wrote one up themselves that does not work.

Default bummer

If the site requires SSL then you will need a cert. It only took 2 minutes to set my phone up and it immediately synched. Maybe you need one of my IT Consultants to fix your network.

They probably have something mis-configured on the Certificate itself or on the permissions.

They should be able to find the answers here:

There is also a link to the Exchange/ActiveSync Administrator's Guide.

Default Yep

99 times out of 100 it is an issue with certificates.

This all sounds good and great, but when I try to do this, my phone 700wx (Mobile 5.0) does not recognize the file.

If I go to my OWA at the log in page I can click "Install Certificate" for remote locations. And an window pops up that says to "open" or "save". And when I do this it begins an install process with some kind of Cert Install Wizard or something. So it works fine.

But when I go to the OWA on my 700wx (where I can log into webmail just fine) and I click "Install Certificate" from the log in page it only gives me a "save" or "save as" option. And if I save it to my 700wx and try to open it, the 700wx does not recognize the file type and will not install the certificate.

Any idea why 700wx won't recognize the file? Any idea what I can do?

Thanks!
