considering the 700w

Hi there, I'm hoping someone here can advise me. I'm trying to decide between the 700 and the 650. I currently use a Tungsten E2 (and a separate phone), so I'm used to the way the Palm OS works. But I run WinXP on my desktop pc and so I'm pretty familiar with it as well; I'm pretty quick at learning new systems. There is a specific action that I want to be able to perform in the Windows Mobile 5.0 os, which I do already in the Palm:


I have my client list in Contacts, and I keep all my appointments in the Calendar. When I create a new appointment, while in the subject field I can tap Options>phone lookup, and scroll down the list to find the client's name and number, and when I click "add", it enters it automatically into the subject field in my new appointment. Voila! Appointment is created, and all I have to do is add a few graffiti strokes to specify the nature of the appointment.

I need to know if I can do this in WinMob 5.0, on the 700. Honestly, it is virtually the only thing that is hanging up my decision between the two. I've been able to play a little bit on another phone that had the last version of WinMob on it, and I couldn't get it do what I wanted. Does anyone here know if this action is possible? I appreciate any and all help!

When you click subject when creating a new appt, the only options you have are to create a custom title, or to include one of the predefined templates such as:

Meet with
Lunch
Dinner
Visit
Call
Birthday
Complete
Conference
Business Trip

You can select one of the above, and add your text to it. remember this is just the subject field we're talking about.

Now if you've used outlook, WM5 has the attendees option. From what you posted it seems that what you want is to include others who are related to the appointment being scheduled. is that correct? If so, the attendees field seems to fit the bill for you. good luck.

Well, I've had a chance to play around with the WinMob OS a bit, and with Outlook on my desktop, and I just don't see any way around this problem. I DON'T want to have to type in every client's name and phone number every time I schedule them, so I reckon it's the 650 for me. I wish I were patient enough to wait for the rumored 700p!:rolleyes:

OTOH, if anyone else knows of any little tricks that would help me accomplish this task, I'd be most grateful.
