Default Default Phone Numbers?

Like most of you I have multiple phone numbers for most of my contacts -- mobile, home, work, etc. Is there a way to set one particular number as the DEFAULT that will always show as you scroll through your list of contacts? The Treo seems to always display the mobile # as the default, but this is often not what I want.

With my HP Ipaq, it was easy to designate a default number for each contact. But I don't see any way to do that with this phone. Perhaps a 3rd party app?

I've had the phone for about a week so far -- overall it's a useful device but I have run across several annoyances like this that make me like it a lot less. I also hate having the "all or nothing" choice between showing speed dials vs. not showing them at all. For example, I want a quick key for a number of my contacts without having to show the speed dial on my Today screen.

Thanks,
Mark

I have the 750 and if I use dial from contacts it brings up all the number and you scoll to pick which one you want and hit the center button and your dialing.

Several things, I found the most convienent way to deal with dialing is using the voice command, first I assigned the "Hold Side" button to voice command (settings/buttons/Hold Side), then you just speak "Call Jon S on Mobile".

Also, you do not need to have the speed dial display on to assign and use speed dial. Under Menu/Speed Dial Options set up the users you want, then turn off speed dial under "menu/preferance/today".

Thanks for the advice re: voice dialing. I will set that up right away.

Concerning the speed dials, I did understand that you can suppress the display of speed dials from the Today screen. However, you can't be SELECTIVE about it. I want a total of 4 speed dials on my Today screen, but I'd like to set up at least a dozen more that don't appear on the Today screen and overwhelm the precious real estate.
