Direct Push Technology Explained
For those of you who are interested in the techie details of how Direct Push works with WM5.0 devices and Exchange 2003 SP2, here's a good article by Henrik Walther on msexchange.org:

Now... if Verizon would just stop messing around and actually release the MSFP, we could actually all finally try this!

Isn't the full functionality of push supposed to be released via a ROM update at some point?
Or is that what you are referring to by Verizon releasing MSFP ?

Microsoft released the MSFP to the OEMs, in this case Verizon a while ago (October 2005 I think). I was told directly by a Microsoft Rep. that it is Verizon that must test and release it for their device. I imagine that they (Verizon) might be testing in conjunction with Palm.
So to answer your question, yes, the ROM update would, I think, include at least the MSFP, if not other bug fixes as well. I emailed Verizon last week about the release date for the MSFP and got the usual "we can't tell you that" response.

Thx for the clarity.
This is one of the things that is keeping me from taking the 700 plunge in our office.
Of course I could jump in now, sign up for the free 2000 msgs, cross my fingers and hope it works with my exchange server out of the box...but i think i might sit tight a few more months
unless someone can tell me why i shouldnt
