I wanted to share this:
I heard of an email client named Incredimail
Free Backgrounds, Ecards, Animations and Emoticons for your email
It's not suitable for mobile devices, but I downloaded it to my PC because I liked the PC interface and such. The basic version is free - and I love the way that it works. I may upgrade to the premium package.
But - my point is, I wanted to use IncrediMail AND also be able to have my email pushed to my phone. IncrediMail doen't do that.
So this is what I did.
I basically have two types of email accounts. One is comcast, and the others are gmail.
I set up IncrediMail to be the client for only my gmail account. Then I set my main gmail account to forward my emails to my comcast account (I actually have several gmail accounts which also forward to my main gmail account).
What this allows me to do is - when I'm on my PC I can still use the great IncrediMail interface on my gmail account. When I receive emails on my gmail, it gets forwarded to my comcast account, and from there it arrives on my Treo.
There are a few downsides:
1. On my Treo the gmails come into the same outlook folder as my comcast emails instead of it's own gmail inbox. There is no way (that I know of) to even filter the outlook gmails into a separate folder.
2. On my PC I have to delete the gmails that are forwarded to my comcast account.
3. Mobile Outlook (as of yet) does not support those neat emoticons/animations/stationaries
But the upside is:
1. I can use IncrediMail with gmail, and still get gmails on my Treo.
On a side note - gmail now has mobile gmail, where if you wanted to you can access your gmail account from your mobile phone and use some (limited) functionalities that are possible on your gmail account. I tried it, and didn't see much use for it - but perhaps they will enhance the mobile functionalities in the future.
I was a bit surprised that I could use mobile gmail - 'cause the Treo 700w wasn't listed as a supported device.
I am sure that I can't use the mobile google map function - 'cause I tried it even though it said that my device wasn't supported - as expected, it didn't work.
