Default Email sync filtering

I am using Activesync to sync email from a 2003 exchange server to my treo 700w. This is a work account and my problem is that I get a TON of auto-generated alert and warning type email that I do not need or want to pull down onto my treo.

I have been searching and have been unable to figure out how to filter which emails are getting synced. I have a friend with a 650 and he is able to filter with rules (such as from, or subject, etc) on his treo. But I have been unable to figure out how to do this on my 700w.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

probably the easiest thing to do is to direct those messages to a subfolder via a rule (create this in Outlook), and not have the treo sync those folders (in Messaging, go to Menu >> Tools >> Manage Folders and uncheck the subfolders you don't want to sync). I've been using this approach for quite some time - it definitely saves on unwanted messages going to your phone! hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I am moving the emails that I would like to sync down to my Treo into a subfolder via Outlook rules. Here is a little more info regarding my situation:

I pull everything off the server down to a local .pst on my laptop. For this reason I have to leave a copy of all email I receive in the Inbox so it can get pulled down to my laptop. I am moving a copy of the emails that I want to receive on my Treo into a sub folder. When I am logged onto my Outlook client on my laptop this works great because everything is getting pulled down off the server so when I sync my Treo I am only getting what has been moved to my subfolder.

But I am trying to figure out a solution that will work for me when I am not logged onto my Outlook client on my laptop as well. I can't figure out how to stop the Inbox from syncing down to my Treo (anyone know if this is possible?) which would be the ideal (then I would only sync the subfolder for which I have control over the contents).

I have also been trying to find some plug in or app that will provide filtering for Outlook in WM 5 - anyone know of anything here?

It seems strange that Outlook on WM 5 has no filtering capability. Again, thanks for your time and any further suggestions that anyone might have.
