Emails disappearing

Hello,
I'm having a problem with emails. I have my pop setup to be retrieved on my Sprint Treo 700wx. But when it retrieves messages, it will delete them so that I can't get them on my computer at home or work. And I have it set to delete items manually. Also, when I read them on my Treo, I sometimes would like to leave them unread on my server so I won't forget to respond to some of them when I get back to my desktop. But it doesn't do that. It'll either leave them as read... or it will delete them. Tonight, it deleted a few emails that I hadn't even read yet. Now I'm wondering what i've missed. It's deleted from my desktop as well. Where did they go?
