Default HELP ME entering letters in the telephone number slot

When entering a telephone number we seem to be restricted from entering any text in the same box. Is this true?

I dont have a 700 I have a 750 and when entering contact information I have a tb for notes that you can use for text information regarding that contact. Or do you need letters in the dialing sequence>? Welcome to ET

    Thanks
I am referring to the contact info where ti says HOME, CELL . It will only allow numbers not letters. So for example "416-555-9999 Mario" can't be entered

I would like to know if this is an option. I'm sure you already know this, but I use the dial pad and simply type the corresponding numbers. Not answering your question, but definately a work around.

Default Entering letters in contact phone numbers

YES! I was hoping to find this thread on the forum. Like Sold, I have a lot of contact entries where I have the number listed and then a little text to remind me exactly what that # is for ("sales" or "pharmacy" for example.)

I did call Palm support about this and they said that each phone number entry must be PURE numbers; no text is allowed. The field will accept text entries, but then the phone will not dial the number (which defeats the purpose!).

Although I'm not happy about this limitation, the way I handled it for now is by entering reminders in the Job Title field. So for example, I can enter "Business # is for sales, Home # for pharmacy."

    Hope this information helps.

I use the notes tab in the contact to put special information like names or descriptions which help me remember things about the contact or the phone numbers. Just a minor inconevnience to me not to be able to do what you are wanting to do. Sounds like more of an issue with you guys.
