Lightbulb Exchange Server Sync with Treo 700

    Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if the new version of Windows Mobile on the Treo 700 supports the RPC over HTTP connection for Exchange Server 2003?

I currently own a Treo 650, but can't connect to an Exchange 2003 Server using RPC over HTTP. Unfortunately, this is the only method our Administrator allows us to connect via RPC since that is the most secure protocal.

If anyone has experience with this, please post your feedback. Thanks in advance!

With the 700, there will be an update to Server 2003 that would be able to sync your Treo and give you BB like funcationalty. That is just about here now.

Concerning your 650, this is best done with third-party software such as Goodlink, though I do remember a webcast I was in with Palm where they showed that one could sync email with Exchange servers. It would be in the create a new email account option in VersaMail. If it is not in yours, check to make sure that you have the latest updates for your Treo at Palm.com, and then check with their Business Support, as they would be fastest in getting you an answer.

I do see the feature, but the problem is that I need to connect only with RPC over HTTP. This is the only option my system admin allows us to connect to our Exchange server. Does GoodLink offer RPC over HTTP?

This is the info that I found concerning GoodLink and Exchange: http://www.good.com/index.php/faq_highlights.html#8

It may have what you or your IT folks need. Other than that I am not sure (though am quickly trying to learn for a similar application of Treos on my end of things).

Treo 700w can only work with Exchange through the Exchange ActiveSync. Which requires the root certificate from the server to have a token attached from VeriSign.com to authenticate the certificate as valid for Verizon to allow a secure connection. This certificate has to be copied to the treo and installed. On the Exchange server side, OWA and EAS must be installed. Only other trouble could be with vpn's and if you are using verizon's wireless sync service.

The Treo 700w will not sync any other way with exchange except through a usb or bluetooth connection to a desktop or laptop running outlook if outlook is connected to the exchange server.

I run an exchange 2003 system with RPC over HTTP and over the air active sync works flawlessly. I have it set for syync every 5 minutes during peak times and every 4 hours during off peak times. Works perfect!

We have several customers (as well as ourselves) that use internal certificates only. You don't need a 3rd party certificate. It sure makes it easier, but it's not required.

Been working flawlessly since 1/6/2006 when I bought the Treo.

I am also looking to get my Sprint Treo 700wx to sync with my company exchange server. The company does not official support it, but I have been told that there are users that have Motorola Q's that are syncing with no issues. But when I put in my info in ActiveSync it asks for my password again and I know I am putting it in right. Not sure if I would also have to have a root sig installed on my phone, if so can someone help me with this?
