Default Future Treo Owner - Tell me what you like best about your 700w.

Hello everyone....

I'm about to purchase a new Treo 700w. I've read countless reviews searching for the right phone/PDA and it came down to selecting between the Motorola Q and the Treo 700w. What influenced my decision in choosing the Treo is the following:

1) Wifi via SDIO
2) Better internet browser (the Q doesn't recognize java buttons and certain links on certain websites)
3) Ability to edit documents, you can't do this with the Q.
4) System stability as long as you don't go overboard with having too many applications open. The Q suffers from frequent lock-ups and is very susceptible to hardware failures. The darn thing would work for weeks or months then suddenly quit, replacements don't come quickly enough so you are going to be w/o a phone for a few days.

These are pretty important factors for me in deciding my phone/PDA of choice. Now what I would like to know is what you like best about your 700w? And if there is any, what could be improved from the options that you like best? I would also like to know what apps or hacks are a must do right after taking the Treo out of the box. If you were a previous Q user/owner, what made you change over to the Treo?

Any other recommendations are very much appreciated.

Just wanted to place my vote for the "Today" screen. Just a great centralized screen that allows you access apps, set up picture speed dial buttons, let you know upcoming appointments, search Google and more.

Anyone else? Only two people like their Treos?? Negative feedbacks are welcome as well.

I like the WM platform. It just feels 'natural' to me. Also like the ability to have PDA, phone, DMP, games, and GPS all in one device. Push email also rocks!

What I don't like: memory management in AKU2 (can't use IE reliably), BT dropouts, system hangs.

How bad is the BT dropout? I was thinking of getting the BT earphone but if the dropouts are way more frequent than the time it does work, then I'll skip the BT earphone.

When the Treo hangs, how many apps were you running and what apps are they?

I like just about everything! Sure it has its quirks and I have to do a soft reset periodically (I reboot my laptop periodically as well - keeps things running smooth) but the rest makes up for that. I really appreciate the ability to use the device with one hand - the button layout works well for me. Its small enough to carry in my pocket yet the screen is very readable. The synchronization with Outlook is flawless.

If I lost it, I would definitely but another.

Touchscreen is huge...I can't imagine how unusable websites, email and other apps would be without a touchscreen

This can be a hassle with the Q. Logins can be particularly troublesome. I've found workarounds, but this simply isn't an issue with touchscreens.

With the Q being sort of new, I think the jump is more from Treo to Q rather than the other way around. If you want feedback and perspective from that side of the fence, please check out the Everything Q forums.

The BT headset loses its mind once or twice a day, and I have to cycle BT on the 700W. Not a big deal until you try to talk and nobody hears you.
