Default how do you change a files extension?

i received an mp3 file from a friend of mms to my treo, but for some reason the treo thought it was a midi file. i tried saving the file to my treo and it would only save it as a midi file, so now it won't play on the treo. i tried to change the file extension from .mid to .mp3 but the file extension doesn't show up in the file explorer, so all it said was "tune" and when i changed it to "tune.mp3" it was actually "tune.mp3.mid"

i looked all over the place to find out how to view the full file names and change the extensions but couldn't figure it out. i emailed that same file to myself and opened it up on my laptop and changed the extenion to .mp3 and it played just fine there.

    any suggestions?

I use Total Commander, which allows you to both view AND change extensions. Another option is to make the change when AS is running from the PC via Windows Explorer.
