Default HS850 BT Problems

I have tried two different headsets (both HS850) now and the volume I can adjust but the sound is horrible! Very garbled coming in and people also can not hear me well either. I have deleted and re-installed it several times. Anyone else?

You are exactly right; the Motorola HS850 is terrible with the Treo 700w and 650. I purchased the HS850 on Sunday and returned it on yesterday for a replacement thinking I bought a bad one but the new one has the same gurgling, crackling, static the first one has, it will be returned this evening to what I don't know. One site stated that it was the WIFI or wireless network within my home but what's the excuse in the car, the radio antenna?
If anyone has a Treo 700w with good success please respond as soon as possible.

It's not the phone, they are not compatible with TREOS. Motorola website confirms this compatibility problem.

I bought a Plantronics Discovery 640 last night from CompUSA and it is awesome. I have not had any of the other troubles that I had with the Motorola HS850, no crackling, gurgling, and static. I even paired it right out of the box without any charging. I wore it all day with no irritation to my ears and it felt secure enough to jog with it on. No more flopping on or against my head. I had to turn down the volume to half way so I wouldn't burst my eardrums. What a difference in quality. I'm happy now.

Default Motorola Claim

Has anyone got a link to the Motorola site relating to the HS850 not being compatible? I just got my new Treo and before I open it and reinstall everything I would like to just get another headset!

Thanks

Hello again MrJerome!

I ditto your comments.

Unfortunately, I may need to retire my HS850 with the Ipaq 6315. As you know I have the Treo as well as the XV6700 and can confirm the Motorola HS850 has the same crackle and poor volume with both. It workd great with the IPAQ, however.

I will investigate your Plantronics choice this weekend as the new experience with the XV6700 has kepte me from completely switching over from my IPAQ. As for my wife's Treo, she hates hands free devices because it is a hassle to put on getting tangled in her hair. She just chooses to answer the phones in the car illegally. The poor quality of her HS850 hasn't helped convert her to hands free either.

Steven- By chance when you set up your HS850, did you check com port as well as Hands Free? On my XV6700 I discovered I had only selected Hands free and when I redid the setup late last night, I got it working satisfactory as well. I will see if I can make the change on the Treo700w as well for my wife but regardless of the sound quality improvement I doubt she'll find dealing with it getting in her hair any better. I think she is just a candidate for a speaker phone in the car and contionue to hold the Treo up like a regular phone. Of course, I don't have the hair problem so I'm happy now that the HS850 is doing better.

To be honest, I just don't remember. Sorry. If you still need the info, I will gladly uninstal and install again and let you know. Just let me know.
