I Ordered My 700wx today - Treo Forums

I upgraded from my ageing, dropped on the concrete many times Treo 650 to a 700wx this morning. I thought that becasue the release date was today for business customers I would be able to find it in a Sprint store. No luck. When I asked some slaes reps, they had no clue as to what I was talking about. Another technician told me the stores wouldn't have it until October or Nnovember (don't know how true that is). Anyway, I ordered it over the phone and they said to give it 1-2 days to ship and they will ship it overnight. The phone was $649 and even though I was at 15 months into my contract, they gave me a 18 month credit of $150. There is also a $100 "mail-in" rebate. Ask them if they will give it to you over the phone and they will. Supposedly the stores can't do any of that (also, I don't know how true that is). I was told that if I was able to get the phone in the store, I would need to call Sprint and ask them to apply the upgrade credit and I would still need to mail in the rebate. I have been on hold now for 25 minutes for the shipping dept to see when my phone will ship and to get a tracking number. I will keep you posted.

After spending 1 hour on hold with the shipping dept at Sprint, they told me that my shipped today and it will be here tomorrow!!!!

I never thought that I would leave the Palm OS (it's so simple to use), but I'm a System\Network Engineer and there so many toold that come standard on the Windows Mobile OS, it make things much simpler.

Wishful thinking. I got my phone today, but it was a 700p!! I spoke to about 4 people before I orderd the phone and they all said that they had the 700wx is stock. When I called after I got my phone, the lady I spoke to said the phones are not in their system yet and therefore, can't be ordered. She said they should be in the system today or this weekend. So, I am going to keep my 700p since I hae 30 days to return it and return it when they get the 700wx's in stock. That way I can compare the two. If I don't like the 700 wx when I get I will send that back to get the 700p. LOL

FYI...If you are ordering a 700wx, make sure you specifically ask yor sales rep if the phones are in stock. I thought again that they were in staock and going to ship today, so I called to order one. She took all of my information and I called back to get my order number. Guess what? I was dupped once more! "Sir, I can't give you an order number yet, because the 700wx's are not in our system yet. As soon as your order is processed, you can call back in to get your order number....The reason why she did that was becasue she wanted to get the commision for the order. She wrote your order on paper and will enter it into our system when it is available."

I'm thoroughly confused. I have never been on the "get the new phone the first day it comes out" bandwagon before, so I'm not sure if this is typical or not, but I can promise you I'm not making the mistake a 3rd time - 2 times is enough for me.

Sorry if I offend anyone, but these people are worse than car salesmen\women!
