I'm disappointed
I did my homework, or so I thought, before getting a new cell phone the other day, and I still have almost a month to change my mind. I was torn between the Treo 700wx and the Blackberry Curve. Because of the large size of the Treo I got the Blackberry.
I couldn't be more disappointed. I've never seen a cell phone that's more User-UNfriendly in my life. Let me count the ways.... No, that would take too much time. I have yet to be able to just find a "contact" list, and find myself navigating thru many many options just to put the phone on vibrate or some such simple thing. Every action takes forever, and too many clicks to get where you want to be.
My question is....tomorrow I'm going back to Verizon to look at the phones again. Is the Treo any more user-friendly than the Blackberry? Does it made more sense when doing functions? I will appreciate any answers you can give me, from those who've played around with both models. Thanks

You will not be disappointed in the 700wx over the Blackberry. The functionality of the Treo to me far exceeds the Blackberry. As you mention using the "wheel" vs the "touch" on the Treo is not even comparable. Try out the Treo for 30 days and judge the functionality between the two devices.

I agree. I've used both the Blackberry and the Treo. I prefer the Windows Mobile operating system. It is much more user friendly. Get the Treo and ENJOY!

BUT the windwos OS has many problems with freezing..and updating every so often. Blackberries rarely freeze..or so i heard.

I haven't run into any freeze ups. I tried one of the older BB's and returned it because I didn't think it was as flexible. Yes the BB's are known for e-mail but for overall functionality I prefer WM and the 700WX. The only lockup I do run into is when I try to access some websites but it's probably because of Flash material, etc.

My Experience - Few Freezes, Few Updates

I have had my Treo 700W for over 2 years. I rarely encounter freezes anymore. The freezes usually revolved around too many apps opened at simultaneously. I find that if I limit myself to a max of 2, then I reduce freezes. With more memory, I would expect the Treo700WX to freeze less often.
I also, back-up nearly every day; I have two boots during the back-up process, so this may also contribute to my lack of freezes.
As far as updates, I control the updates. I am aware of only two updates to the Treo 700W (Verizon) since I purchased it; I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong.
Good Luck,
Bob

I have the 700wx with Verizon and can't remember the last time it froze. I do soft-boot every three or so days but that is at least three times longer than my laptop which has 2GB ram. I'll run 5 to 8 applications and leave them open (not that I toggle between apps but it is more work to close them). All in all the 700wx seems to be pretty solid aside from its quirky bluetooth - discussed in other threads.

hoss not to get off topic but I just got my wx and I have verizon can you tell me how to send a pic message or video message without having to put in an email addy. It isn't a problem doing it the email way but it would be much easier to just attach and select there number. and send instead of having to try and remember what s/p there are on.

Use the MMS messaging to send pics, video and/or sounds as well as text to another number. You are correct that you can send it via an email but MMS is much simpler and only requires the 10 digit phone number in the address.

Just curious how the OP made out? With the Verizon Palm Centro released today, that might also be a consideration. The Palm OS, while dated, is very user friendly.
