Install .cab files??

Please someone help me. I just got my Treo 700wx and am NOT connected to the internet. I want to add a 3rd party application, Treo Alert Pro. It downloads to my PC as a .cab file. :frown:

Can someone please tell me, step by step, HOW to get this file onto my phone and install???????

Do you have email running on the 700WX? If so, download as an attachment. Do you use ActiveSmell or whatever it is called at this moment? Do you have an external card? With one of the above mentioned courses, copy the CAB file to main memory and install it. Installation may involve opening File Exploded, finding the file and taping on it to begin the installation process. The file will probably be saved to the device in the root directory unless you save it to the card, which will probably find it in the card's root directory.

Of course, if you have an external card and a card reader, then it will be wherever you want it to be.

Thanks for your reply. I have to return my Treo because I refuse to pay for data transfer on picture/video text messages. I do not have any kind of data plan, therefore I didn't have email.

Now I'm hunting for a seperate PDA to carry around along with my cell. :frown:

It'll still be the same problem, unless I am near WiFi....they will charge me for getting the MMS. :frown:
