Default Intermittent sound notification for new email

Has anybody experienced this? I have Exchange server SP2 going with the "half ***ed" push thing going, and I USED to get audible notifications when I got new email.

I thought I would be cute and load up a custom MP3 sound I made, added it, it was nice and small (15k) and lo and behold my audible notifications stopped working entirely. Never got my custom sound to play when a new email arrived.

I changed it back to a regular Treo built in sound and it STILL wouldn't work. Finally, after going into the sounds and deleting my custom MP3 sound, I thought I had it fixed, but now it seems it only works intermittently. It's so aggrivating- it doesn't matter if the sound is turned up or down, if it's set to vibrate, it doesn't work reliably either way. I'd estimate that 20% of the "new" emails I get I get notified, which is pretty annoying when I'm at home and have it sitting on the table, getting emails without my knowledge.

It USED to work until I thought I'd be all smart and add a custom alert MP3, but ever since then, I feel like that's what killed it (even though I've since completely removed it from the system.)

A nice bug or "feature" or am I doing something wrong? Anybody else experience this behavior?

    TIA

i still get intermittent email notifications, and it's set to the default tone. i was unable to get an mp3 tone to work for my txt message notifications, but i never tried adding it for email notifications. i know i've read elsewhere that other people are having similar issues.

Side note: also using Exchange server

Just FYI, we have two users on this and it works flawlessly.

No no no - to clarify, I'm not having a problem RECEIVING the email. I still consider the act of receiving this email half ***ed- sending an SMS to my phone to tell it to go to the exchange server and check it does not constitute push email in my opinion (I'm a former BlackBerry user of 2 years).

While I don't think it's very efficient or the best way to make it work, I can't complain about it working- THAT has been flawless.

However, after receiving email, I'd say only about 20% of the time to I get the audible notification, which, I find horrendously annoying. When I hear the sound, I know I have email, when I don't hear anything, I assume I don't. I'll be sitting on the couch watching TV and not hear anything for a few hours, then, for no apparent reason, I get the sound, I check my Treo and lo and behold, I missed 6 emails over the last few hours, and, of course, it only alerted me to the most recent one.

    argh!

thanks for the posts all- sometimes knowing I'm not the only one makes it better.

I would consider myself a power 700w user. I send/receive email all day every day. This definitely does NOT happen to me.

Now, I WILL say this. If I go too far customizing this unit, it starts to act weird. Meaning, custom ring tones, removing screen notifications for email/voicemail, etc...

If I do a hard reset and just tweak some of the small things (speed dial, voice command, etc...) it literally works perfectly, except for the known bugs.
