Default Internet and email issue

My email and internet access have stopped connecting completely.

Heres the error message:

Cannot Connect
Dialed 1+425#777
Dialed from mobile

No modem at above number. To check your connection settings and change them if necessary tap settings.

It defaulted to this dial up setting out of the box with the name "powervision." Now......ironically, Only having this 700wx only a few days, it took me a while to get email and internet working. And as of just yesterday it was working just fine.

1- Is it possible that the modem that this window says "doesnt exist" is just down temporaily? Is there somewhere I can call to check the status of this "modem"?
2- IS there another number that I can set up for it to dial, where it would be more reliable and maybe faster?

Thanks
apollo

I have Verizon. The number mine dials is just #777. Try removing the area code from yours.

Mine does this several times daily. I dont know if its just that the network is busy, too many people trying to connect to #777 or what. It is very annoying.

Default No Modem

I have been receiving the same message on my 700wx. I called Verizon data tech support several times, and one tech admitted there was nothing wrong with the PDA but rather the data network was beyond its capacity. This explains why in heavily populated areas you may get this often, while in less densely populated areas, you may not get the dreaded "no modem" message. Regardless, if true, no amount of "fixing" of the handset will "fix" the problem.

This also means the Verizon stores may be selling data packages at $40 per month knowing full well they don't have the capacity for the users on the network.

This is a State's Attorney General's dream. If this is true, I can see some public consumer advocate, most likely a State's attorney general (aka "Aspiring Governor") filing a claim against Verizon on behalf of the users.

Personally, I think if this is true, Verizon needs to do one of 2 things: stop selling data packages, or add more capacity.

I could be wrong.
