Default Invisible feature during long phone calls

Has anybody else had a 30+ minute phone call? I finally had one and noticed that the phone display switched from the large white box with the phone number, caller's name, and the mini down arrow halfway between and slightly above the Hold and Menu button (is this mini arrow functional by the way???). Anyway, the display changed from this "current call" display to the normal Today screen with a row at the top showing "Active call" and the time on the call. The feature I noticed was that when you pressed the Menu button when on the Today screen you were given an option to create a memo, view the Recording toolbar, etc. What is this screen called, how can you get to it during a call less than 30 minutes, ... ?

No WAY ... SWEET !!!! I either missed that in the initial "how to make a call" section of the manual or it was omitted. Very nice feature (and I like being able to read previously-delivered email, look at the calendar, contacts, tasks, etc. while still on the phone and this works nicely with a Bluetooth headset as you don't have to keep pulling the phone away from your ear to view the screen).
