Thanks - that's a way to do it, but I was hoping there was a better (more explicit) way. I tried it and you're right. But what if I accidentally delete the only task in a given category? Then I have to set up the category again? Or what if I wanted to assign a category for future tasks, such as "personal", "business", etc.

I agree. It's counter-inuitive. Let's say I have a category "website" and manage to finish all of my tasks. It certainly doesn't mean I won't have future tasks in that category.

I prefer WM over Palm. I used HP Pocket PCs (PDA - no phone) for years before I bought a Treo 650. After using Pocket PCs for so long, the Palm OS took a while for me to get used to. Now after a year with the 650, and now that I have tweaked and adjusted and bought tons of third party software to get the Treo 650 to work the way I wanted, they make the 700. I rushed out and got the 700, but I am still using the 650 (two lines). Seems like it's gonna be a long transition (if at all - I might just continue to use both), because I have gotten used to the simplicity of the Palm, not to mention the great 3rd party apps (I have tons of 3rd party apps for Pocket PC also, that I could still install on the 700, but I have found the quality and functionality of most all 3rd party apps to be superior on the Palm). I might just have to create the WM equivalents of the Palm 3rd party apps myself!

I most definitely miss a number of my 3rd party applications. Snappermail at the top of that list.

Back to the subject - if I'm not mistaken, in previous versions of the Pocket PC OS, you could delete categories. If you deleted a category, then all tasks assigned would be reassigned to the "unfiled" category - or at least you would get a warning.

That's what I'm used to on Palm - this is my first venture into Windows, so I'm not sure if they intended it to be like this.
