i have ordered a lot of stuff from ebay and it really boils down to choosing the right seller. i always spend atleast ten minutes reading the comments of other users and also check for what items those comments have been left for.
any seller with less that 99% positive ratings and i don't even look twice.. even then i go thru all the ratings received and check for what items the seller got a negative rating and what was the complaint. a lot can be said when the negative ratings are replied to by the seller.. if they aren't replied by the seller then it just says more often than not that he ain't honest.
that being said.. i just ordered a
brand new unlocked/unbranded gsm treo 650 off ebay a few days back for a measly
$430 (shipping included). the seller had 100% positive ratings, that too with over 3000 ratings which says a lot. there was a full money back guarantee as well as 'paypal buyer protection' which means that if the item wasn't in the stated condition and the seller disowns it, i still get my money back.
i also ordered a
sandisk 1gb ultra II sd card plus, the one that folds down in half and has inbuilt usb for just
$85 (inclusive shipping). again, the seller had 99.4 positive ratings with only two negative ratings which on further investigation showed that it wasn't his fault and the buyers were plain idiots.
needless to say, both the items arived in perfect condition and i am a very happy man today

. i also bought a brand new tungsten T3 from ebay for a very good price and till date it works great.
i guess if the right amount of caution is put in before bidding for an item, ebay ain't such a bad place after all.
