Sure hope you didn't type that on the 700

As a pre-cursor to the review, there are about 50 or so photos sitting in the Photo Gallery that show the new Treo 700w along with a number of comparison shots.

Once you select a photo, you can click again for a high resolution shot.

Informative Treo 700w Review Up

Here's the Treo 700w review - I hope those considering the 650 or 700 find it useful.

As always, any questions, let me know.

Default 700 Review

Chris I just want to say nice job on your review of the 700. Very well done. You definately clarified a lot of questions I had. I guess bottom line is that there really isnt a clear cut answer as to which phone (650 or 700) is "better." Really depends on what one is trying to achieve with the phone and what/how you plan to use it.

I like the fact that on the 650 everything appears to be easy. Your review of the 700 appears to be that there are some more steps that need to be taken to get to the same place as comared to the 650. Example is speakerphone or as you put it while driving in a car. That is a huge concern I have always had. I dont want to be in a situation while driving especially that I am now trying to focus on multiple steps of my spartphone rather than focusing on what I should be doing and thats driving.

Speed is always an issue but I'm not going to be websurfing while driving in my car. All the other bells and whistles are great but I guess again it depends on what you really want it for.

Thank you again for your review and time and I'll remain on the forum if I have any questions. Your the man.

Exactly. Both are great phones - but it's personal preference and if have 3rd party palm apps.

That seemed to be a common theme when using the 700w. It didn't bother me when I was just sitting around and digging into Windows. Accessing speakerphone from the car should be easier. Even if they alllowed you to select using a menu button, it would have been much easier.

I'm glad you found it useful. If you have any questions about the 700w or the 650, just let me know.

Hey Chris. Yeah I mean it really seems like the 700 is fine if your sitting down and have time to play around with this that or the other, like a desktop. But if your on the go, need stuff really quick, no time to mess around with this step or that step, especially if your driving, I dont know.

I see you gave the 700 4 out of 5 stars. How many stars would you give the 650?

For different reasons, I would rate the 650 the same. The 650 is a GREAT device. - As the admin on the forums, I'm still amazed at the functionality of the 650 and how people here make the most of their Treo experience.

It's a good place for Palm - 2 smartphones - both very good. Not unlike yourself, the difficult part is for the consumer to make a selection between the two. Their preferred wireless provider will factor into that decision and their history with the Treo/Palm OS.

I'd expect a longtime Palm user who has a number of apps and a comfort zone to stay with the Palm device. If they were to move to the 700w, I'd say it's EV-DO or their corporate environment that sways them.

I personally like the speed of the 700w and will use it as my primary phone for now. That's not to say that I'm not wondering about the next palm based Treo.

Yeah it really appears especially by your review and what others have been saying that this 700 is fast but probably more of the corporate marketplace will pick it up because their sales managers are making them get it not because they want to get it. It seems like every article I've read whether it be in computer magazines, "tech magazines" or others, its the same feedback on the 650, they all LOVE the phone. The 700, too new I guess and just different. I have Verizon now so the next stop at the store I'll make a decision. Thanks again.
