Question Low Memory Space?

I just got the Treo 700wx about 3 wks ago and I've been having problems with downloading an application "On Demand" offered by Sprint. I keep getting the error msg that my storage space is "Critically Low" and I need to delete any unused files and things. Well the problem is I haven't downloaded anything to the phone other than music which I store on my 2 gig SD card. I may have like 3 MP3 songs stored on the phone iteself so that I can have them assigned to different ppl as ringtones but that's it. I used to own a Q and I know there was a way to clear the cache after being on internet and things of that sort to free the memory used. What do I need to do in this case? Can you help me out plz?

It is not clear if the critically low memory message is a result of storage or program memory. If you press and hold the OK key the memory values for these two categories will be displayed and will indicate which system is low. The MP3's stored on your device are a part of the storage portion of the memory but if this portion of memory is showing a healthy amount still available the problem will most likely be in the program side of things. Closing apps clears the program side. Check status of the memory and let us know...

As I said I'm new to all this but when I held down OK button the info I got was as follows:
Storage: Total - 62.95MB....In Use-38.88MB....Free-24.07MB
Program: Total-57.45MB...In Use-18.27MB...Free-39.18MB

Now when I click the storage card link it shows plenty of space: TTL on card memory: 1936.88MB....In use...450.69MB....Free-1486.19MB

I don't understand why I get that error msg of critically low space and what I was trying to do was activate my On Demand through Sprint and I tried saving to the device and it told me it was low and then I tried to save to the card and wasn't able to. Please tell me what I can do to solve this problem. Are there preinstalled programs on the device that I can maybe delete without harm to the phone? I really don't use Word/Excel but I may in the future and I can't think of anything else that can possibly free up some space on the device. I need HELP! Any other suggestions?

If you only have 24.07 mb of free space on your phone, it will give you a critical memory low message when you try to launch ON Demand with Sprint. Here is why...

When you launch On Demand, it needs and will automatically download Net. 2.0 before starting. It needs this software to run On Demand. I think this software uses about 10 or more mb of memory. So you will use up most of your memory as it downloads your Cab file for On Demand. It will giive you the critical message because On Demand automatically downloads news updates amongst many other things while its running. So in short you need to free up some of your internal memory to use On Demand.

One thought is try moving your MP3 songs to your card. An average MP3 song is 3-5 mb so you can imagine what 4 or 5 will do.

Good Luck

Ok those numbers that I stated above on free space was after I deleted my MP3 songs 4 ringtones from the device memory and moved to my storage card. Is there anything else I can remove that will free up some space? Because all of my mp3 songs are on the storage card and it still doesn't look like I have enough space to add anything!

There are so many things to delete to free up space, Id run out of room to type. I would suggest backing everything up on your desktop, then doing a hard reset. This function would put your phone back to factory settings. From there you could add what you want and moniter you free space. Good Luck
