Need Help Mine too...need to remove battery a great deal

My phone definitely has the "once it has gone to sleep it just doesn't respond to any keys" problem. I do have an SD card...1GB installed all the time. Could that be the problem? Maybe there will be an update soon which addresses this really annoying "feature." Having to take the battery out once or twice every couple of days just to use the damn phone really stinks.

    Default Non-responsive 700w

I too had problems like decribed in the previous messages. I need to keep ActiveSync alive because I'm going directly to my Exchange server (SBS 2003). But, I had it running for a week without any problems and then I heard about the voice commander and a lot of people we're enjoying the application. I enabled it and almost immediately my 700 started going stupid. Many soft resets (>25) later I did a hard reset and reloaded, reconfigured without the VC. It's been running fine for a few days now. It seems different people have different symptoms to problems with this unit but that is my story. I'll just not use VC and I guess I'll be OK. I also noticed a good thread about PISCEL not working for some folks. That was me too but others were running it just fine. I loaded the Adobe version and it works fine but the PISCEL gave me a memory error every time, never showed me a PDF. Go figure. I'll never trade it back to a Palm OS but I liked the comment someone made about Microsoft making us lower our expectations. Sad but sometimes true.

    Default Same Problem

I have that same problem too. Keyguard is on and pressing the center button sometimes does nothing. Very often it will take 2-3 attempts to get the center key to release the keyguard. grr...should I take it back?

Also, I've noticed a serious chirping of feedback when my friend, who also has the 700w tries to talk to me on speakerphone. When we are both on speakerphone...whoa...serious feedback.

hmph. And I thought I was the only one who was having this issue. Often times, I just hit Option + Power and the keyguard would go away. I've quit w/ the center button already. It's driving me insane!

Sometimes when I'm on a call using just the handset, I want to switch to my bluetooth headset but when I set it to switch, the phone just freezes. I can still talk to the person on the other line, but I can't end the call, touch the screen or any buttons. I have no programs running in the background. This has happened to me on too many occasions and has gotten very annoying. Now, I just make sure I have my bluetooth headset on before I make any calls (so that I don't have to switch to it later, and hence the 'freeze').

The Treo 700w is very un-responsive at times, even when there's no programs running in the background. I think Palm should have implemented at least 64mb worth of program memory. I mean, come on, I paid $499 + for this damn phone and with a two year contract! The least they could've done was put into consideration the fact that their users are going to be running quite a few programs at a time. God knows how much program memory the OS takes. And I've realized that by installing some programs that load themselves into the today screen, they take up memory during startup. This in turns leaves very little program memory left for other applications!

I love this phone. It's my first smart phone (or Pocket PC, etc) and I'm fairly happy with it. I just believe the reason why the Treo freezes or hangs so often is because the lack of available RAM. For a $500 phone, Palm could've done better.

Yeah, sorry about the double post. =/

i have that same problem too. Keyguard is on and pressing the center button sometimes does nothing. usually i hit the "end" button and the light comes on and the screen lights up saying to hit the center button but lately i hit the "end" button and nothing happens. i keep trying and get nothing so i have to do a soft reset. so far i've had to do it twice today and the phone isnt even a week old yet.
this phone is seriously pissing me off. it's the most expensive phone i've ever had and the biggest POS i've ever had. if i cant get this thing to start responding i'm going back to verizon and getting the cheapest phone they have. i've never had a problem with the cheap ones.

Don't forget what you've got. You've got a 1st generation product (Microsoft software on Palm hardware). You've got it 2 months and 14 days after it was released to the public. You've got something that unfortunately, has very poor memory management in it at this point.

But, you've got exactly what the manufacturers said it was designed for. A great phone with neat built in features, that gets awesome broadband speeds. Meaning, having my Exchange Server email/calendar/contacts instantly synced, and a great quality phone are the MOST important thing to me. I'd LOVE to have games, 15 other cool applications and GPS all working on it as well, but, it's just not there yet.

About 6 weeks ago, I finally did a hard reset, and just left the basics on there, and disabled Voice command. I use well over 3000 minutes a month, and I have realtime sync with my Exchange server running basically all day every day throughout the week when I'm not in the office. It works like a champ, with maybe 1 soft reset per week.
