Default New 700w - Comcast e-mail question

I activated my new 700w last night and I couldn't seem to put the device down

I have several questions regarding the delivery of a POP3 comcast account:

1. I have set up my account and I can receive my e-mail. However it seems like it takes about two minutes to connect and download small e-mails. I live in an EVDO area. The screen turns off before the download completes, which appears to stop the connection. Should it take this long to access Comcast's servers? I have to hit buttons to keep the device active until the download completes its process. Is this normal based on your experience?

2. What do you use for the domain? I inputed comcast.net as the domain and it works...is a domain necessary?

3. Active sync is always running in the backgroud even when I am not connected. How do I stop this. I manually stop the process, however it is running again within a few minutes.

I appreciate any feedback! Thanks!

Brandon

1. I was having same issue with comcast.. there servers are just slow. I ended up just forwarding all my email to a gmail account and use gmail. gmail servers are much better

2. see 1, I dont rember what I used. If I rember correctly comcast set itself up and I didn't change anything.

3. follow this link it will stop the active sync.

What type of emails are you pulling in? Are they just plain text and they are taking a while, or do they have attachments? Are you saving your emails to the phone, or to a SecureDigital Card (IMO recommended)? If you have any other POP3/IMAP accounts I would test to see if you experience the same issue.

You don't have to specify a domain. That is there for access to coporate networks.

Mine is always running as well, but I use my 700w to retrieve mail from Exchange server which ActiveSync uses all the time.

I'd also recommend updating your phone to the latest ROM that Palm provided last week. It has many enhancements that'll save you some serious frustation in the future.

Good Luck
