New to this forum and new to Treo. Internet disconnect problem.

Hi everybody,
I just got a Treo 700wx and I have Sprint for service. I would like to POP my E-mail from work every 30 minutes and then when it is done checking my mail disconnect from the internet call. Here is what happens.

I go into delivery preferences and choose connect and check for messages every 30 minutes. It will then dial up using #777 Sprint Power vision and check my mail. The mail comes down just fine. The icon stays on the top bar shows 1x on top and two little left and right arrows below the 1x. (here is the problem)
After it is done checking my mail the arrows go from bold to gray. It will then go bold every 30 seconds or so and check mail. I can send a test message to my work E-mail and my phone will get that within 30 seconds. I will send another test message 5 minutes later and my phone will pick that up right away too.

This situation kills my battery, I get about 6 hours of life when this is happening.

I would like to know how to connect dialing #777, check mail and then disconnect automatically. When I turn off auto checking every 30 minutes, and check manually, my battery lasts 3 or 4 days.

I have done a number of hard resets and that does not seem to fix my problem.

Any help would be awesome!!

I think if you want to disconnect you have to do it manually is the short answer. Welcome to ET
