newbie needs lots or room cost no option

thank you for allowing me to join your group. i bet this has been asked before but im new and very low on time . i needed my verizon treo 700 for many things...but i dont need excel and powerpoint and few other rougue things that hog space and i really want them out...i will buy a back up program and ghost program so i can reload to original specs if needed (just in case) but i want these memory hogs out!!! is there a guru amoung you who can show a newbie the way to rid myself of un-needed programs give me more space for programs i do need without using mem cards ....aand i dont mind spending the money to get what i need..im not rich but i know what i want...
im a newbie to pocket pooters but ive built many desktops of many types and i just cant accept there isnt a way to make more room.

also just got phone on 2-7 and read that nite that crossbow mmobile 6.0 is comming...hate to admit it but got a download of it but again a newbie , i havent yet mastered the art of pocket pcs....one day would like to put version 6 in since i just bot version 5 and feel cheated...but more on that later...how do i get these other programs out and get more sys memory...say it isnt so please?????

Excell, Powerpoint, et cetera - those are built in the ROM and live there. Taking them out is not an option for most users.

How can you feel cheated knowing that V5 was on the device when you purchased it? Take it back and wait until a device with V6 comes out.

just hard for me to get aorund in wheel chair of cane and have waited for phone for a year or more already and the next day after buying it win six comes out..i guess if i could back up all ive already done and then just take it back when 6 is out i wouldnt feel cheated but i dont think vzn is going to offer 6 for several months...no ive messed with roms on game emulaters in past...any chanve roms may be similar as far as make a good solid ghost copy of original then couldnt i dig in it and pull out as much as i can to make room? maybe not..like i said im a newbie but i have re configured a few roms to play on emulators for games...oh well...thank you for your reply....guess i should have researched a lil more before buying and then waited another 3 months to get crossbow...but i havent given up on loading 6 on to this later also...who knows anything is possible with enough time which i got and at least some money...thanks again

Have a look on your install cd - mine came with 'Sprite Backup PC Agent' which provides a backup facility for your fone. (No money spent)
I found by using a memory card its served many purposes - room for all my music I carry with me - room so that I'm not having to worry about fotos taken - room to download all my 3rdP software to - and room to keep a backup copy on even. (well worth the spend)
I've just moved from win03 to win05 in the last couple of weeks since upgrading my fone - not a great deal of difference - and some good features from 03 have been lost. So whilst 06 is just around the corner - all those who have just purchased could also lay claim to feeling cheated - but as any techie knows ... generally as soon as you've bought it - it's become obsolete.
Once you get competent with your phone - have a go at installing 06 (with a good backup in reserve) it'll take a while for other software proggies to be launched compatible with 06 probably - but if yours work then you're in luck - if not .. then go back to your backup and wait awhiles.

My guess is with the 700w having poor performance on even WM5, running WM6 with its additional little eye candies is going to make it even slower.

I was under the impression that the WIN OS is in ROM and short of a ROM software upgrade, it cannot be done.
