Newbie needs some Memory assistance - Treo Forums

Hi;

I have just had my 700w for 3 days. I was looking at the amount of program memory I wa using and it said that I have a total of 25.45 MB ; In-use 19.21 MB ; Free 6.24 MB

I have not installed any additional software on my ppc.

Can anyone help be to increase my free memory?

This has been one of the draw backs of the 700w, and since the program memory is internal to the PPC there is no way to add to it. This is why the Sprint version is called the 700wx it has the memory enhanced to add to the program memory. The storage memory is larger as well. I know that doesn't help you, but the 700w works well as long as you keep unused programs closed. Go over to PPC Freewarez and get you a task manager to help you keep those programs closed. First things first. The Treo 700wx has 64MB of app RAM and the Treo 700w has 32MB, but they BOTH has 128MB ROM with 60MB available.

Next you will need to get a task manager to close the apps or hold down the ok button to bring up the built in task mgr to close apps.

The most likely culprit is ActiveSync, I find that each time it runs on my Treo 700w it uses up more RAM. I would suggest (2) things. Return the Treo 700w and get an XV6700 with more ROM & RAM or wait for the Treo 700wx on VERIZON due out in 2 months. Yes Sprint has it now, but Verizon is getting it very soon.
