System Tools or Repair noob - Don't want to use data over network, want to use Wi-fi

For my particular situation, I chose the pay-as-you-go data plan. I don't want to use the data at all to avoid data charges. Can I set up my phone so that it doesn't connect? I would like to be able to compose email on the Treo, sync and send through my computer as well as use pocket MSN for locally stored pages.

    A question about Wi-fi
I have a Wi-fi network in my house. After getting an SDIO card, can I connect to my home network and use the internet over Wi-fi without data charges?

For anyone who cares to do this....

I use Telus, and use the pay per use option. I am at home and have wi-fi, and have wi-fi almost everywhere I normally go, so I don't care to pay data charges. On the PPU plan, they charge you $30 for the first 1mb of data you transfer, so they really discourage data use on this plan.

I went in to Settings>Connections>Connections and went to manage existing connection and I removed my username and password so my phone cannot connect to the network for data over the cellular line. I have started up MSN explorer and hotmail and it can't connect and there are no data charges on my account after several days.

I also have been using a "non-Palm" Wi-Fi card ($70 Can) and it works fine, and without data charges. I have checked email, browsed webpages, and sent messages with messenger. http://factorydirect.ca/catalog/prod...p?pcode=SD8021
