| Oddness with my 700wx Hello all,
I swapped over from a PPC6700 to a Treo 700wx...and I'm beginning to 2nd guess my choice. I'm wondering if anyone else is having some of my issues.
1. Time zone Freakouts.
I live in Outlook...my entire call schedule is there and I"m constantly referring back to it. The timezone settings on the Treo keep flipping from GMT-6(Central) to ZIMBABWE time...throwing my entire schedule out of wack, missing schedule alerts, etc.
2. Backlight: The brightness on the screen just turns itself down to almost the lowest setting.
3. Lockups. 4 times today alone I've had to soft reset the phone to disconnect a call. The BT headset wouldn't do it, nor would the hard buttons on the phone
4.Bluetooth. I've read over and over again how crappy the BT stack is on the phone...and I'm having the same issues as everyone else on this one. The bluetooth radio just turns itself off sporadically during the day
Did I get a lemon? I thought I'd waited long enough for Palm/Sprint to work out any bugs..but I'm thinking perhaps not now. |

| well thats a hard one, I have backlight issues too, rarely though. Mine happens when I wake the phone and unlock it while plugged into AC power. Checked your brightness settings?
I have read problesm with the reset to disconeect calls too.
You were right to get rid of the 6700, it has poorer ratings than the TREO and I have family in Sprint who say stay away from it, even a store rep told me to stay away from the 6700, the 6800 is suppose to be better phone wise.
How long have you had it, Sprint gives you 30 days to return it for another phone or a replacement, get another one.
If you dont want to do that, do a hard reset and see if the symptoms stop |

| The hard reset seemed to take care of the time zone issue..the backlight and the reset to disconnect call thing isn't happening has much yet. I don't really understand the 6700 problems...I didn't really have any problems with mine until the charging port pulled out of the phone. I've only had the Treo for around a week. I'll give it another week and see if things work themselves out before I take up the problems with Sprint. |

| You may try to do a hard reset, as suggested by Dunndw. After doing a hard reset, you may want to do uninstallation and re-installation of your ActiveSync software since you've mentioned that you have had a PPC before the 700wx. Just a suggestion, though.
Hope this helps |

| read above, he already hard reset per my instructions, glad it helped some. Try another unit before giving up on the TREO, it was rated best PDA phone on the market by consumer reports.
The 6700 had terrible phone reception according to sprint sales reps, the one I spoke with took one home as a demo to try out and said he averaged 2 bars less than with other sprint phones. He mentioned some other minor problems that he said the 6800 has worked out. |

| Hmm, well I wanted the 6700 but it was de-listed by Bell when I was ready to switch from Roger to Bell.
Have you installed the DST patch to your PC and to the Treo? If not, I would make sure that you do. Every hard reset you do removes the patch so I keep the install file on my storage card.
Bluetooth - It's either horrible or really finicky depending on your attitude. There is an aftermarket hack which replaces the bluetooth stack to add AD2P support. I would try it first. Also, it could be as simple as your headset not playing nice with the treo. That may sound stupid but what's more stupid is my Plantronics 510 multipoint headset working with everything BUT my 700wx.
There are two areas to deal with the backlight. Power management and backlight settings. Make sure you check both so that it doesn't turn off on it's own. I personally have no issues with backlight whatsoever.
Lockups. Well, it's a windows device - you should expect lockups. I keep the add-on software to a minimum and use ActiveSync 4.2. 4.5 gave me nothing but grief. To get 4.2 you have to use the Palm install CD. If you use an SD card, try the treo without the SD card - see if that helps - maybe you have a defective card causing the issues.
If you have lost confidence in the device, don't try and fix it yourself, get a replacement under warranty. |

| agreed on all points billingsworld, I have only had 2 lockups in 4 months. If you soft reset or remove the battery, your bluetooth with default to "off" |
