One touch dialing of number in SMS Hi everyone,
I'm using my Treo 700W as a pager and am looking for a particular solution regarding SMS's.
I'm a physician and have my answering service send me SMS's countless times per day. The messages are pretty brief (ex. Mrs. Smith is having chest pain, call nurse Mary at xxx-xxx-xxxx). My problem is the complexity required to extract the phone number (using Phone Alarm, a gret program if you haven't tried it):
Press down on D-pad to activate the PA section
Press right on D-pad 4 times to get to the SMS box
Press center to open the SMS folder
Press center again to open the message
Press down once or twice to highlight the phone number
Press center to bring up the "Do you want to dial this number"
Press another direction to confirm "yes'
then I'm finally calling the number.
So, this puts it at about 10-12 button pushes to call a number back. Not the easiest thing to do quickly, and especially not easy while driving a 4,000 pound car while rushing to the hospital.
I used to have an old cheap mobile phone (free phone when you sign 2 year contract type) that was fantastic for this. When I'd get a new message the only thing I had to do was flip open the phone and hit the center of the D-Pad 4 times and it would extract the telephone number from the message and dial it.
Any idea if any of the configurations of PA can help with this? Or know of any other applications that may fit the bill. If not, know of any 700W programmers I can track down and get one to possibly write or edit a program to accomplish this (for a fee of course)?
